Beyond The Pose

NEW for 2023
Picture
This new course is for those who love yoga and feel inspired to expand their knowledge beyond the physical poses. It is a chance to delve a little deeper into the traditional yoga teachings, and understand how they can help us lead calmer, and more fulfilled lives.

Each week the class will be themed to reveal an element of yogic wisdom. The concepts will be presented in a way that makes them easy to understand and relevant to our modern day lives. Through movement and meditation we will explore the teachings and their relevance to us both on and off the mat.

What will the course cover?
  • Winter Term: Patanjali’s eight limbs, made relevant to modern life.
  • Easter Term: The Chakras: An embodied perspective
  • Spring Term: The Koshas & The Five Elements
  • Summer Term: The Kleshas & The art and science of love and gratitude.
  • Autumn Term: Lessons from the Deities
  • Christmas Term: Drawing in, introspection & finding your meditation style.
Who is it for?
  • Anyone who loves yoga and would like to learn more!
  • Attendance of yoga classes (of any type) for at least a year is recommended.
  • Anyone who wishes the connection and calm they find on their mat could extend into more of their week.
Who isn’t it for?
  • Body beautiful yogis (people who only care about their appearance in a pose). All the physical practices will be kind, inclusive, and designed to help you find more freedom in your body.
  • Yoga fundamentalists (anyone who isn't open to merging the traditional teachings with a modern day understanding of movement and mind).
What can I expect to gain?
  • More ease, confidence, and freedom in your body.
  • A fuller understanding of yoga philosophy.
  • New insights into what drives you, your relationships, and the life choices you make.
  • A weekly practice with like-minded people, that goes beyond the average yoga class.

Do Your Om Thing by Rebecca Pacheco

Many of the topics covered in the course are discussed in this brilliant book. The author makes yoga philosophy feel accessible, relatable, and genuinely rooted in the world that we live in today. Though not essential, reading it will be an excellent addition to the class teachings.
